Aeolian Harp, Saxophone Quartet

$35.00

Aeolian Harp is a saxophone quartet inspired by the musical instrument of the same name. An Aeolian harp is a musical instrument that is played by the blowing wind. The instrument is typically made by stretching several strings across a wooden-box resonator and then placing it outside or in an open window. As the wind blows, the strings vibrate through their harmonic series resulting in a beautiful and haunting sound. The same effect can be created by simply placing an orchestral harp in an open field. This sound and the concept behind it inspired this piece.

Aeolian Harp is best suited for advanced saxophonists. The piece calls for exceptional control of the embouchure to achieve smooth and even glissandi.
